The main focus of Li lab is the functional genomics of secondary metabolites in microorganisms, especially in fungi of ascomycetes and bacteria of actinomycetes. The most interested substances are polyketides, cyclodipeptide derivatives and prenylated natural products.
Further research interests are chemoenzymatic biosynthesis and synthetic microbiological approaches for production of biologically active compounds.
