Research Area

The Endesfelder lab develops and applies Single-Molecule Localization Microscopy (SMLM) techniques for microbial cell biology - interested in the observation of molecular processes in living cells. Here, SMLM techniques provide us with in vivo biochemistry data of dynamic cellular interactions and assemblies. We are currently investigating the following cellular mechanisms: the molecular architecture and organization of the kinetochore complex regulating chromosome segregation, the molecular coordination of parallel transcription and replication machineries, and the target detection processes of Cascade complexes.

Alongside performing adventurous experiments, and reporting excellent science, SYNMIKRO substantially promotes potential Young Research Group Leaders by constantly keeping its doors open to welcome and support Young Researchers planning to set up an Independent Research Group.
